The Nallamalla forest is an extension of Eastern Ghats stretching from Srisailam on the top and ending at Tirupathi down. It is a protected tiger reserve and has one of the thickest forests in India. The height of hills averages at 550 meters sea level and the peak height at 1150 meters. Belum Caves are the other most popular destination for tourists visiting Nandyal.  These caves are situated at a distance of 80 Kms from Nandyal and 318 Kms from Hyderabad.

Nandyal is known for its Nava Nandi Temples. The most famous Mahanandi Temple and the other smaller Shiva temples (including Garudanandi, Suryanandi, Krishnanandi, Vinayakanandi, Shivanandi, Prathamanandi, Naganandi and Somanandi) around Nandyal, collectively called as the Nava Nandi Kshetrams.  Apart from these Omkaram Temple, Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple, Srisailam and Ahobilam are very popular religious places in Nandyal. The place also has a beautiful cathedral constructed and dedicated in the year 1905.

Located at a distance of mere 30 kms from Nandyal Railway Station, Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. One can get a chance to see Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Hyena, Jungle Cat, Langur, Sambar, Nilgai, Chowsingha, Chinkara,  Bonnet Monkey, Pangolin, Mouse Deer, Monitor Lizard, Marsh Crocodile and Python. It is spread across an area of 1194 square kilometers.

Winters are pleasant in Nandyal and the temperature varies between a minimum of 20o Celsius to the maximum of 30o Celsius. Tourists are advised to visit Nandyal during the winter months. Summers are quiet hot in the Nandyal. It experiences temperatures up to 40o Celsius and tourists should generally avoid visiting the city during this period. The best time to plan a visit is from the month of October to March.
