Railway was introduced in Nandyal in 1890 only due to its geographic location. It acts as a major station on the Guntur division of South Central Railway and has direct rail connectivity to important cities throughout the country including Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata. A new line to Yerraguntla is under construction.
