The height of hills averages at 550 meters sea level and the peak height at 1150 meters. Nandyal is known for its Nava Nandi Temples. The most famous Mahanandi Temple and the other smaller Shiva temples (including Garudanandi, Suryanandi, Krishnanandi, Vinayakanandi, Shivanandi, Prathamanandi, Naganandi and Somanandi) around Nandyal, collectively called as the Nava Nandi Kshetrams.  Apart from these Omkaram Temple, Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple, Srisailam and Ahobilam are very popular religious places in Nandyal. One can get a chance to see Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Hyena, Jungle Cat, Langur, Sambar, Nilgai, Chowsingha, Chinkara,  Bonnet Monkey, Pangolin, Mouse Deer, Monitor Lizard, Marsh Crocodile and Python. It is spread across an area of 1194 square kilometers.
