Oravakallu Rock Garden

Located just 25 km from Kurnool and 50 km from Nandyal, Oravakallu Rock Garden is famous for its natural rock formations around a long winding water body. It resembles a miniature Grand Canyon. The rocks are made of quartz and silica. Which is used a raw material in glass industry. The park was developed by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC).

Picnic
Oravakallu offers you something you don’t expect every day, an untouched beauty by man. Prepare your meal and be ready to have fun and in case you don’t carry food with you,The place also has a restaurant run by  the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC).

Boating and Kayaking

People often visit this place for the boating and kayaking facility available here as the place is famous for its rock formations around a long winding water body.

Trekking

Oravakallu Rock Graden is great for trekking purpose as you can climb up the red rock formations of all shapes and sizes as long as you want and once you reach the highest point you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of water body set against the background of wonderful open spaces and clear blue skies. While the landscape might be a sight to sore eyes, the sun won't be as friendly.

Apart from these the garden also has a cave museum for you to enjoy more at the site. This park has been a site for film producers from many years, so if you are lucky you might get a chance to see the shooting as well.

Hotels and Restaurants near Oravakallu Rock Garden

There is no facilty available in Oravakallu Rock Garden to stay so travelers should make it a day trip from Kurnool and stay there only.

There is one restaurant available at the place which is run by APTDC. My advice to travelers would be to stock up on water and refreshments from the restaurant before you start trekking.

How to Reach Oravakallu Rock Garden

Being close to Kurnool is the best advantage for this garden.

By Road: Buses are available from Kurnool at regular intervals for oravakal village.

By Rail: Nearest Railway Station is located at Kurnool at a distance of 25 Km only.

By Air: Nearest Airport is Hyderabad International Airport located at a distance of around 225 km.
